The Challenge
A 3.2 m pitched ceiling with a single central apex and two knee walls left 60% of the floor area in shadow. The builder had roughed in one lighting spur — enough for a single pendant, nothing more.
The Solution
Six 70 mm recessed Astro Trimless downlights were set into the pitch at 35° angle, washing the ceiling plane evenly. A Davey Lighting wall sconce was tucked into the left knee wall at 900 mm, directly beside the built-in bookshelf nook. A 2700K dimmable LED driver serves both circuits from a single Lutron Caseta dimmer.
"I stood at the top of the stairs and genuinely didn't recognise the room. It was like somebody had moved the ceiling up."

The Challenge
A Victorian terrace attic with a dramatic 4.8 m vaulted apex and knee walls on both sides. The homeowner needed task lighting for a dual-monitor setup without glare on screens, plus a separate ambient circuit for video calls that didn't wash them out.
The Solution
Recessed Nemo Lighting Mesh downlights with anti-glare baffles were positioned behind the monitor line, angling light onto the desk surface at 45° to eliminate screen reflection. Two Astro Palermo wall lights were mounted at 1500 mm on the knee walls for warm ambient fill. A Casambi smart module provides independent scene control — "Focus", "Call", and "Evening" — from a phone or wall plate.
"Every video call I get asked about my setup. They think it's a studio. It's my attic in Hackney."

The Challenge
A full third-floor conversion with skylights, a recording corner, a mixing desk zone, and a client lounge area — all within 38 m² of mixed geometry: flat section over the lounge, pitched over the recording space, and a dormer nook housing the mixing desk. Three distinct uses, one room, zero existing wiring.
The Solution
A full first-fix was laid with four independent circuits: lounge ambient (Vibia Warm recessed, 2700K, Lutron Homeworks dimmer), recording zone (zero-flicker LED panels flush in the pitch, 4000K, on a hardwired switch), mixing desk dormer (Flos Tracking LED strip inside the dormer reveals, 3000K, on a separate dimmer), and a perimeter 12V LED plinth channel along the entire eaves for atmosphere. All four circuits are addressable from a single Lutron HomeWorks keypad beside the door.
"We've had three clients book sessions specifically because they saw photos of the room. The lighting is the product now."
